This is a synopsis of the schedule and tours for the AE/AOE Sailors Association reunion in New Orleans October 3-7,
2018.
We will be home ported out of the Double Tree Hotel located in Kenner, LA. Room rates are $125 per night, good 3
days prior and 3 days after the reunion. To make hotel reservation call 800-744-1500 and let them know you are with
the AE/AOE Sailors Association. The hotel code is AEO. It is suggested to reserve early so the reunion planners can
adjust if necessary.

What’s Happening in New Orleans

An early arrival on October 2 is suggested if you would like to partake in the Laura Plantation tour on Wednesday
October 3, 2018.

Day 1 October 3, Wednesday. The first tour is to the Laura Plantation which is located on the River Road along the
Mississippi River. The Plantation is over 200 years old and is a Creole plantation that producers sugar, cotton and
indigo.

Day 1 October 3, Wednesday the hospitality room will be open welcoming everyone. The hospitality room will be
available most days and evenings for relaxing and ship get together. Bring your cruise books and any memorabilia you
would like to share with shipmates.

Day 2 October 4, Thursday.  An all-day tour at the WW II Museum.  Tour includes a Tom Hank’s interactive movie,
lunch and a full USO Canteen live show.  We will visit our honorary bricks which highlight every AE ship that served in
WW II.
Day 2 October 4, Thursday evening. We are off to do a little steaming aboard the Steamboat Natchez. Featured is a
buffet dinner with hand carved beef, chicken and sausage gumbo, pork loin and seafood pasta with a live Jazz band.

Day 3, October 5, Friday. An all day tour of New Orleans visiting the French Quarter along with surrounding
neighborhoods like Garden District, Frenchman Street and the new Musicians homes built after Katrina. This tour
includes a buffet lunch at Coterie in the French Quarter.
Day 3, October 5, Friday evening. Celebrate Marti Gras. This evening is a special dinner at the Double Tree hotel
featuring Regional New Orleans foods.

Day 4, October 6, Saturday. We will start the day with the annual business meeting. After the meeting there will be a
tour going to the Court of Two Sisters with live jazz. We will have buffet lunch. After lunch the tour will split with some
going on to Marti Gras World and the others staying in the French Quarter.

Day 4, October 6, Saturday evening. Banquet Dinner featuring New York Strip Loin Beef or Salmon or Chicken Cordon
Bleu.
